    Subject: Quilts for Wounded Soldiers

Quilts Are Needed for Wounded Soldiers and Marines Returning from Iraq and Afghanistan

If you would like to help with this effort for our wounded heroes in Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval Hospital, please observe the following guidelines.

Size: Lap size at least 50 x 60 [100% cotton fabrics and cotton batting must be used in order for the quilts to breathe when placed over injuries and to guard against further injury to the recipient.] Remember, most of the wounded are big men and a smaller quilt is hard to cuddle with.
Color: Patriotic colors preferred in any design. But I am sure any color of quilt would be welcome.
    Labels: To: An American Hero
From: Your name, guild or group name
Note: It is an added plus if you take time to attach a simple note to the quilt.

Quilters, these are not charity quilts. An American man or woman has put their life on the line. In World War II the American women pulled together to help our service men and women and now the time has come for us to do our part. We all know what joy and comfort a quilt can mean to our loved ones. These military personnel are put in harm's way and have come home injured. This can be our way to show love and comfort through our quilting efforts. Please, won't you help?
